Fresh out of the kiln, this bowl was a rather nice surprise. I blew mica onto black radium glass in the hopes of creating something truly unique and I was not disappointed. After cold working, the piece was slumped into a large bowl and viola, the pictures speak for themselves!
Throughout time artists have sought to represent, express, and gain inspiration from the transcendence of the natural world. In my artwork, I seek to capture a fleeting moment, a feeling of the sublime beauty and mystery of the world around me. By working with glass, these transitory ideas are captured in a medium that is difficult to define. Some say it is a viscous liquid, others, an amorphous solid. Either way, glass is a mystery taken from nature itself.
